Everyone has pictures that have been passed down to them from one relative or another. Sometimes you just forget who is in the picture or maybe you never really knew. Well, here are some of those pictures and a little bit of background about each one. Print 'em off, pass 'em around and see if anybody knows who these people are. If you've got an answer, send us an E-mail.

Although not for certain, this picture was probably taken in January of 1910. The gentleman in the middle is Herman Boeding (1872 - 1944), upper right is Edward Otto Boeding (1861 - 1910), lower right Edward's wife, Elizabeth Lohman(1870 - 1944). The other three are unidentified. The other woman somewhat resembles Edward's and Herman's sister, Mary (1873 - 1962) who married Henry Kuennen(1870 - 1958). She could also be Herman's wife, Caroline Kuennen (1873 - 1937), married in 1894, although there is not much of a resemblance to another family picture taken in 1916. A reasonable guess about the remaining gentlemen is that they are both Kuennens (there is a slight resemblance to other pictures). Henry Kuennen was a good friend of Ed's, becoming an in-law on June 11, 1895. If one of the men is Henry, (upper left) the other woman could be Mary, his wife, since Caroline was not one of Henry's siblings. If the other woman is Caroline or someone else, it's anyones guess who the other men are. |

This picture was taken sometime around the turn of the century in West Union, Iowa. Other than the location stamped on the photo, nothing is known about the picture and the people in it other than it was in the possession of Father Arnold Boeding (1898 - 1989), who was born on a farm outside of St. Lucas, Iowa and served as a priest in his later years in West Texas. The man resembles pictures of some Kuennen men of that era, distant relatives of Fr. Arnold. The dress the woman is wearing is similar in style and color to wedding dresses of other Kuennen family wedding pictures, particularly one of John Henry Kuennen and Theresa Martin taken on September 27, 1892 and printed in the "Kuennen Heritage and Recipes" cookbook published in 1997. |
